Best 4" straps for steel?
#1
Checked flatbedequipment.com 4" Chain Anchor straps. With 5,400 lbs WLL, they look solid for heavy machinery. Anyone tried them? Do they hold tension well on long hauls?

I’ve been running those exact 4" chain anchor straps for about six months now on my flatbed, and they are absolutely solid for steel coils and heavy machinery. They hold tension beautifully on long cross-country hauls without needing constant tightening like cheaper brands. If you are hauling oversized freight, definitely look into their heavy duty ratchet strap https://flatbedequipment.com/collections/ratchet-straps options. They use a really high-tensile polyester webbing that resists fraying on sharp metal edges. Definitely worth the investment for the peace of mind.

Thanks for the feedback! Just ordered a set. Do you use edge protectors with them on steel, or does the webbing hold up fine on its own?

Glad to help. Always use heavy-duty plastic or rubber edge protectors for steel. Even tough webbing frays eventually against raw metal edges.
