5 Steps To More Successful Search Engine Optimisation
#1
Good search engine optimisation also known as natural or organic search is not only a whole lot of fun to create but can drive thousands of targeted visitors to your website every month on complete autopilot.

In fact you could not turn the traffic off even if you wanted to … it just grows and grows.

And despite it seeming like rocket science and something that is difficult to learn and do if you simply focus on a few fundamentals and be very consistent about it you will get results.

1 Read Up On What Google Wants From You As A Website Owner

There are guru books and courses out there that will always be a tempting way to think they know a little extra something that can get you results faster but in reality most hide database of the information you need to know is provided within the search engines own guidelines.

Start with Google’s own training and work your way through what the search engines like and give them more of that.

You will not find everything out about search engine optimisation from the search engines themselves but it is a great start.
There are also some amazing websites out there giving IMMENSE value away for free, one of my favourites is SEO BOOK (add link)

2 Make Your Site Easy To Crawl

Search engines work by sending out “spiders” that crawl the internet to read the text on websites and then index them. A web spider is a program the search engines use to simply crawl across the web, they are also known as bots.

You need to make it very easy for spiders to access and navigate your website and one of the best ways you can do this is to switch to WordPress as your platform. Basically spiders are completely unable to see flash-based content, content generated through Javascript, content displayed as video and a lot of the other images and content that generally make your website look attractive and appealing.

So always make sure you get the right balance between text and rich media. Too much of the wrong one will mean nobody can find your website!

3 Pick The Right Keywords

There are three places you will want to think about keywords:-

1. In the general settings of your whole website in addition to your title and meta description you will want your main keywords to be relevant to your websites content.
2. In every post your create you will want to use a WordPress plug in like All In One SEO and complete the title, description and keywords PER POST. The keywords should be POST specific here.
3. In your tags for every post you will want to add 5-6 main keywords that are SITE SPECIFIC for every post.
You need to use keywords and phrases that the people you want to attract to your site are putting into the search engines. For example if your website is about vegetarian recipes you do not want to attract people who enjoy eating steak!

Think about what you ideal clients are searching for in terms of a solution and then start building out dozens and dozens of possible keyword combinations for your future blog posts, articles and pages.
